We are looking for an Equestrian Leader to take on the challenge of taking care of our 10 leased horses! We have a basic riding program, we ride western with most often camper groups coming up for pony/arena style rides and rare occasion trail rides.
You would be responsible for assessing the horses and getting them ready each day along with your barn support that you supervise.
Counselors are around for assists but not trained.
We are an overnight camp that runs Sunday through Friday, you would live on-site with food provided during programming.
We start with training May 22 nd and contract ends August 11th.
*Responsibilities* * Keep the barn in clean and top shape.
* Feed and care for horses, alert the Director if there may be a need for outside medical attention or the Ferrier.
* Make supply runs for food and barn needs.
* Run a safe riding program that includes campers ages 6-15 of various rising abilities.
* Assist with camp programming when not directly engaged in barn duties * Resolve conflict and address behavioral issues, bring counselors in for assistance * Make sure all safety rules are followed * Perform first aid or take care of injuries as needed *Skills* Preferred * Experience as working with horses and riding (Current certification in CHA is a bonus or ability to become certified) * Patient and reliable * Organizational and communication skills * A love for children * Energetic and positive personality * Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (strength and stamina to follow strenuous activities like hiking, running, crouching) Employment Length: * May 25th- August 11th Work Remotely * No Job Types: Part-time, Contract, Temporary Pay: $410.
00 per week COVID-19 considerations: We have tests onsite and masks available if need be.
If we suspect Covid based on symptoms we will test and follow CDC protocols and quarantine calculator.
Education: * High school or equivalent (Preferred) Experience: * riding: 1 year (Required) License/Certification: * CHA or equivalent training (Preferred) Work Location: In person
