Ø Plan in writing and implement age-appropriate learning activities for children, including teacher directed and self-directed activities, considering each child’s total development
Ø Responsible for keeping parent boards updated, including but not limited to posting of daily schedule, current lesson plans, current menu, staff child ratios, field trip announcements/rosters, calendar and newsletter, and allergy list.
Ø Adhere to all state licensing and local health and safety regulations
Ø Guide and assist children toward independence in self-help and social skills
Ø Provide a safe and secure environment with consistent and appropriate supervision
Ø Supervise assistants, volunteers, and students assigned to classroom
Ø Prepare in advance educational materials required to implement the daily activity plan
Ø Supervise upkeep of all educational equipment and materials in assigned area
Ø Maintain a clean, orderly classroom with toys and materials kept in good repair and accessible to children at all times
Ø Attend staff meetings and make appropriate contributions to the meetings
Ø Observe, record, and report significant individual and group behavior
Ø Serve as an advocate for all children and families
Ø Relate positively to parents; conduct regular formal and/or informal parent/teacher conferences on each child's school adjustment, classroom behavior, and developmental progress
Ø Keep accurate and up-to-date attendance.
Ø Keep accurate and up-to-date records of children’s overall developmental growth
Ø Be flexible and willing to perform other job-related tasks as the need arises to maintain highest quality child care standards
Ø Use the time during working hours effectively and efficiently
Ø Be willing to accept supervision
