*SUMMARY *
The Manager in Training (MIT) is a transitional position; leads company initiatives and ensures maximum productivity in a safe environment, drives sales, controls expenses and shrink, and remains compliant with company procedures in accordance to AutoZone’s expectation.

*POSITION REQUIREMENTS * Qualified candidates must be effective leaders with excellent communication skills, strong decision making ability, and must be able to excel in a fast paced environment.
It is essential for the MIT to foster and maintain a positive environment that develops and engages their team and generates sales.
MITs have the proven ability and desire to become a store manager.
*GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES * Responsibilities include but are not limited to: * Takes responsibility for own training, ensures completion of Management Certified and other training modules, as directed by District Manager.
* Motivates store AutoZoners to provide WOW! Customer Service, enhance productivity level and market products to enhance sales and profits * Assists the Store Manager with recruiting applicants in order to effectively staff the store * Assists with supervision and scheduling of store personnel * Capability to manage, analyze and reconcile monthly P&L statements * Delegates and ensures store merchandising tasks are completed in a timely manner * Maintains all store financial, revenue and expense targets * Operates cash registers and follows established cash handling duties, including but not limited to deposits, petty cash and lane accountability * Utilizes ZNET to help customers locate merchandise or find suitable alternatives * Maintains a safe working environment while ensuring AutoZoners are implementing those practices including PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) * Monitor cash flow, inventory and security control * Assists customers in finding parts and products using ZNET and paper catalogs * Ensure all company policies, and loss prevention procedures are followed * Maintain sales productivity, store maintenance, store appearance inside and outside, and merchandising standards * Conducts and reviews all opening and closing procedures * Assists with daily payroll and adjusts schedule accordingly * Addresses customer concerns and resolves them with a goal of turning a complaint into a compliment * Assists with management of the Commercial Department (as applicable) to ensure commercial accounts are services and deliveries are made as promised * Adheres to and ensures AutoZoners follow AutoZone’s dress code standards * Assists with monitoring and managing all activities related to Risk & Safety Management to maintain a safe work environment * Ability to work all the hours (of operation) that we are open for business * Ability to meet physical job requirements as listed on Essential Job Functions with or without a reasonable accommodation (listed on page 2) * Performs other related duties as required Effective June 2014 *AutoZone Store Essential Job Functions * *Work Factor Description * *Environment *Primary Work Site 90% indoors * 10% outdoors Temperature Controlled indoors * Varied outdoors * Semi – controlled while driving Noise Normal road noise while driving Vibration Not a factor * Moderate while driving Hazards Should be aware of box cutter, ladders, 2 wheeler activity, and some chemical exposure (ex: batteries, coolant, oil, washer fluid, brake fluid, etc.
