Lead Exception Children (EC) Preschool Teacher
FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE
The purpose of this position is to plan, organize, and implement policies and procedures to ensure all local and state Developmental Day guidelines are met by providing direct classroom support for exceptional children preschool classes.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide in-class observation, feedback, and recommendations to teachers on implementation of strategies in coordination with district Preschool Administration.
Consult and serve as liaison to school administration at district Developmental Day sites regarding any concerns with position responsibilities or job performance as related to Developmental Day guidelines.
Ensure compliance with all regulations set by the NC Division of Child Development to secure and maintain required ratings at each site.
This includes compliance visits, health inspectors, fire inspections and the associated paperwork.
Assist in developing IEPs that are developmentally appropriate, curriculum/standards based, strength based and relevant to each individual student.
Make recommendations to staff regarding IEP goals and objections, interventions, and strategies for success.
Suggest resources and strategies to staff to enhance relations, create appropriate environments and teach social emotional skills in children.
Assist with developmental day classroom set-up per DCDEE and ECERS regulations.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of Developmental Day requirements.
Knowledge of Daycare licensure rules and regulations.
Knowledge of child development.
Knowledge of the needs of young children and families and the ability to meet their needs with consistency, understanding, and warmth.
Ability to communicate and work with families in a positive and supportive manner to meet the needs of their children.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Development or Education with focus in Birth-Kindergarten and one-year related work experience.
Desirable: Master’s degree in Early Childhood Development or Education with focus in Birth-Kindergarten and three years related work experience.
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:
BK Licensure
Valid NC Driver’s License
Certification in First Aid/CPR, It’s SIDS, Playground Safety, Emergency Preparedness, Health and Safety Training, or willingness to participate in training for all the above.
Level III Administrator – DCDEE (preferred)
