Summary:
Leads the Family Services Children’s Advocacy Center.
Directs comprehensive services to child and developmentally delayed adult victims of violence in Forsyth County, NC.
Centers trauma-informed approaches that seek to facilitate safety, hope, healing and justice for child survivors and non-offending care givers.
Facilitates a community-wide systemic response to child sexual assault.
Creatively problem-solves strategies to respond to and prevent child abuse and maltreatment in Forsyth County, NC.
Major Duties: Leads, manages and provides programmatic and supervisory oversight for the Family Services Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC).
Assures quality service by being knowledgeable of and enforcing rules, regulations, and legal requirements including those needed to maintain accreditation through the National Children’s Alliance.
Maintains records necessary for program accountability and trains staff on CAC record keeping.
Works with the VP of Clinical and Community Services to evaluate program effectiveness.
Trains and develops a competent, productive, and satisfied professional staff.
Supervises and supports staff, interns and volunteers through setting performance goals, coaching to competence and growth, and appraising performance.
Recommends hiring, transferring, promoting, demoting, disciplining, and terminating personnel.
Provides training and educational and experiential growth opportunities.
Manages staff, interns and volunteers to deliver services including, for example: scheduling and conducting forensic interviews, assisting the victim and the non-offending caretaker in understanding the criminal justice system, accompanying child victims to hospital medical exams, and providing child abuse education sessions in community settings.
Fills these roles as needed during periods of staff vacancies.
Performs Forensic Interviews for more complex cases as needed.
Writes reports and occasionally testifies in court cases.
Facilitates the CAC Multi-Disciplinary Team to provide a coordinated response to child sexual assault and child maltreatment that supports a multi agency response to alleged assault.
Leads effective team meetings including case review and system-wide problem solving.
Develops relationships with MDT partners and monitors interagency protocols and procedures.
Provides continuity of services by coordinating cases with collateral agencies, such as law enforcement, the District Attorney’s office, the Department of Social Services, and medical community.
Serves as a member of the Clinical and Community Services Program Leadership Team.
Problem-solves and creates strategic responses to service gaps in victim response, community education and partnership development.
Participates in state and national Children’s Advocacy Center efforts as available.
Writes / assists with writing grant reports and funding applications.
Gathers information from partners for an annual child abuse and maltreatment community assessment.
Plays an active role in raising the visibility of the CAC, connecting the services to the larger community, and using those linkages to increase the level of community resources (financial, volunteer, tangible, and in-kind) which benefit Family Services programs.
Maintains harmonious working and collaborative programming relationship with various sponsoring and advisory groups and other related services agencies.
Works with other Divisions within Family Services as needed to promote the CAC and Family Services.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Bachelors Degree with 3-5 years relevant work experience required Knowledge of CAC and Forensic interviewing required Demonstrated crisis intervention skills and experience in services to individuals, families, and children and an understanding and acceptance of regional psychosocial, cultural, religious and economic differences.
3 years experience supervising, motivating and leading staff / interns / volunteers.
Articulates ideas clearly (both written and orally), listens accurately, and establishes personal rapport with people from a variety of backgrounds.
Maintains dignity and self-control in stressful situations and objectivity about personal strengths and limitations.
Master’s Degree preferred Expected Hours of Work: Primarily daytime hours, Monday to Friday.
Flexible schedule hours of work, including occasional evening and weekend hours as needed.
This is an in-office position with limited telework available.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Maintains physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following: walking, bending, stretching, lifting, standing or sitting for extended periods of time, operating assigned equipment.
Ability to work flexible/overtime hours, as needed.
Requires valid NC driver’s license and ability to travel between various agency sites and community resources.
