Central library Operations Manager

General Statement of Duties The Forsyth County Public Library has an exciting opportunity for a qualified library professional.
The Central Library Operations Manager performs supervisory and administrative library work for the headquarters library division.
The position oversees the management, strategic planning and daily operations of four Central Library departments as well as the overall Central Library Facility.
Distinguishing Features Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of Library Science.
Knowledge of principles and methods of supervision and training.
Ability to organize and direct the work of others.
Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public.
Ability to effectively supervise the provision of services to the public at the Central Library.
Ability to prepare periodic and special reports of activities.
Ability to assist with the annual budget estimates and preparation.
Ability to analyze problems, recommend practical solutions and make decisions.
This position requires the employee to relate library services to the needs of the community, maintain effective working relationships and consistently use good judgement in the daily supervision of services.
Performs related duties as required.
Minimum Education and Experience Master of Library Science degree from an ALA accredited library school and at least three years experience in professional library work, including two years experience in supervisory capacity.
Most obtain certification of the North Carolina Public Librarian Certification Commission.
A higher education level may be considered as a substitution for all or part of the experience requirement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities This employee will mentor supervisory subordinates for professional development in all aspects of librarianship, ensure provision of excellent customer service and library services, and advises library supervisors and department staff in the planning, development and execution of library programs and services.
