General Statement of Duties
The Department of Social Services is seeking a highly motivated, dependable professional with advanced communication and exceptional customer service skills to oversee/supervise the functions of the Adult Services Division Guardianship Services Unit.
The candidate will supervise a team of 6 socials workers ensuring services are rendered to adults declared incompetent by the court.
As the Forsyth County Department of Social Services serves as the public guardian for adults appointed by the court, the supervisor for this position is responsible for the proper oversight of case management for this team.
Distinguishing Features
The ideal candidate will have previous supervisory experience as well as direct practice with older adults, and adults with disabilities is required.
Considerable knowledge of Social Work principles, techniques and practices is desired.
Needs to be detail-oriented and have the ability to interpret policies and rule-based directives.
Needs to be familiar with working on a computer and possess good organizational skills.
Emphasis will be on persons with high ethical standards and with sound judgment.
This position requires managing the workload, evaluating the performance, and coaching of 6 Senior Social Work direct reports.
The typical work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.
m.
- 5:00 p.
m.
Periodic flexibility may be required such as with crisis situations that could arise at the end of the workday.
Additionally, the Sr.
Social Worker Supervisor may need to be available for afterhours consultations.
Rotation for handling the after hours on-call phone for Adult Protective Services and Guardianship emergencies may be required for this position.
Minimum Education and Experience
Master's degree from an accredited school of social work and two years of social work or counseling experience or;
Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of social work and three years of social work or counseling experience or;
Master's degree in a counseling field and three years of social work or counseling experience or;
A four-year degree in a human services field or related curriculum including at least 15 semester hours in courses related to social work or counseling and four years of social work or counseling or;
Graduation from a four-year college or university and five years of experience in rehabilitation counseling, pastoral counseling, group work, or community organization.
A higher education level may be considered as a substitution for all or part of the experience requirement.
Valid driver's license REQUIRED.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Some other duties for this position/role include but are not limited, reviewing data, and running reports, assistance with special projects, and other various administrative functions.
The successful candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and use good judgment in overseeing the functions in this area.
They must have exceptional organizational skills, the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, the ability to work quickly within deadlines, have basic knowledge of universal computer technology, cloud-based data systems, general office equipment, and be able to thrive in a team-oriented environment.
