Description
Under immediate supervision, perform routine professional work, support services at a city owned golf course.
Works pro shop counter, collecting fees and merchandise sales.
Maintain records, and handle financial and banking matters.
Provide support service assigned to check in golfers, book tee times, tournaments, school teams, leagues and First Tee liaison.
Promote the game of golf, and related duties as assigned and required at Winston Lake Golf Course.
Staffing schedule includes weekends and occasional evening work.
Examples of Duties
Provide excellent customer service relations and strive to provide services that increase customer satisfaction, revenue generation, and rounds of golf at Winston Lake Golf Course
Checking in/booking tee times for customers
General pro shop duties, housekeeping, sales, cash handling and using operating system
Assist with special events, programming to grow the game of golf
Assist with youth Camps and tournaments
Enforces golf course rules
Encourages positive and engaging interactions with citizens
Reports and documents issues on course
Records attendance of golfers / handles basic data numbers
Typical Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of high school diploma, supplemented by some experience in recreation and golf leadership activities; and or completion of professional golf school apprenticeship program.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of techniques and methods of the rules, etiquette, equipment, and game of golf.
General knowledge of the practices, methods and policies used in municipal golf course operations.
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with the public and other employees.
Ability to operate the pro shop activities and to account for revenues.
Knowledge of community organizations and resources.
Ability to instruct youth, children, and adults in various sports to include golf.
Ability to develop and maintain effective public and customer relationships.
Physical Requirements:
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work frequently standing, walking, sitting, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and reaching with hands and arms and occasionally requires climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motions; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.
g.
business office, light traffic).
